We'd love to have no RVs. If this is really a goal of yours, please lmk. Parking space is limited, so we might have to park your RV down the road a ways. The best plan is to CAMP, in a tent! EATING UTENSILS:
BYO "MEAL KIT"
--Re-useable Water Bottle (Metal, durable plastic, etc.) *PLEASE NO DISPOSABLE WATER BOTTLES! $10 TARGET BOTTLE LOTS OF WALGREENS OPTIONS
--Re-useable Cup *PLEASE NO SOLO CUPS OR PAPER CUPS!
--Re-useable plate/bowl *PLEASE NO PAPER PLATES!
--Re-useable silverware *PLEASE NO DISPOSABLE PLASTIC-WARE!
--A dishtowell/hand towel/cloth napkin for eating. *PLEASE NO PAPER NAPKINS!
--If you have never camped before and don't know what a "meal kit" means: Just grab a mug, plate, a spoon and fork, and a dishtowel from your kitchen. You can wrap them in a towel/pillowcase to keep them from breaking, and put them in a backpack or tote bag.
--The event will provide some large pots for cooking/cutting board/can-opener, etc. (If you want to make meat, bring your own propane canister and pan.)
***THANK YOU FOR REDUCING TRASH TO KEEP US SAFE DURING CORONAVIRUS, BUT ALSO TAKE CARE OF THE PLANET!***
FOOD:
--WATER: The event will provide 90 Gallons of potable (Drinking/cooking) water for all, from the pump at my parents' house nearby. This is equivalent to tap water, which we all drink here. Bring a reusable water bottle to fill up. If you want filtered water, bring a filter, or your own tank of filtered water.
--MEAL TEAMS: We will be sharing ONE hot entree every night. This does not mean one hot MEAL. This means there will be hot noodles, rice, etc. provided since we have limited access to boiling water/stoves. See group text thread/bottom of page for your deets!
--All other food is up to the individuals' needs. You would provide your own veggie side/salad, protein options, etc., if you want to eat more than just rice for dinner!
--Nearest town is not close, so don't rely on any cafes/fast food, etc.
--STOVES: We will have a couple camp stoves to share from our ranks. The event will purchase propane for the shared dinner entrees. Propane will be limited, so if you plan to make like 3 pots of coffee a day, please bring your own propane canister re-fill. (Obvi if you have your own propane stove, you can bring that, too!)
--ICE: If you bring a cooler, come with it full of ice, and we will send 1 person on an ice run Saturday to re-stock!
--MEAT: We don't recommend much raw meat on this trip, since our cooking area is limited, there will be no grill (due to increased coronavirus-concerns from local fire-fighters), ice is limited, and we are being EXTRA health-conscious for Coronavirus. We really don't want to risk large quantities of raw meat, blood dripping out, etc., since the area is HOT and food-borne illnesses can happen fast. Great meat options are cans of chicken soup, cans of tuna/salmon, beef jerky, etc., or consider being veggie for the trip and get some veggie patties. If you need meat, try for example, bringing a package of pre-cooked sausages on ice instead of a giant package of bloody, dripping, raw steak. Thanks!
--BRING A COOLER WITH ICE IF YOU WANT REFRIGERATABLE FOODS : How/what you want to eat beside our one "hot entree item" of the night is up to you. Suggestions for new campers:
-------EASY LEVEL: Some people just bring 1 can of soup per night and eat it cold. Works great in my mind! You can also get "TASTY BITES" @VONS for like $2 and eat them out of the bag! WIN!
-------MEDIUM LEVEL: If you want veggies, grab a bag of carrots and hummus, or some lettuce and tomatoes to make a salad.
-------FANCY LEVEL: If you want Nature-Gourmet, you can bring your favorite dips and sauces to share, or even pre-cook meals lake lasagnas, casseroles, and put them in your cooler.
--BREAKFAST suggestions for new campers: If you don't have a cooler--Granola/cereal, breakfast bars, bagels. IF you have a cooler--Yogurt/almond milk, etc.
--LUNCH: Suggestions for easy, non-perishable snacks: Peanut Butter, Bread, honey, fruit, jerky/vegan jerky, granola bars, trail mix, tuna fish, chips, popcorn

--Backpack/fanny pack

HOW TO GET HERE & arrivaL/DEPARTURE information

--LOCATION: We will be camping in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, at "Green Creek" (That is not a photo of the exact location but it's similar.)
--ENVIRONMENT: The site has mixed sun and shade, and is along a lovely river. There is a lake in the nearby canyon, too. It's a free site on public land, so there are no "amenities". The event will be providing the bathroom set-up (pit "toilet"), wash station, cook station: You just have to bring what is in your packing list.
--ELEVATION: The areas we will be in will be around 7,000-8,500 ft above Sea Level. For some, this may mean a day of acclimation, in which you might feel a tad light-headed or dehydrated. Plan to bring electrolytes and hydrate a lot, esp., if you are new to high elevations. (For perspective, downtown LA is about 250 feet above sea level. Airplanes cruise around 30,000)
--The site is right off the 395 Highway, just North of Mono Lake, a GIANT salt lake.
--Mono Lake is 5.5 hrs from LA, and the site will be +20 minutes.
--DIRECTIONS: You can navigate in your GPS to "Virginia Creek Settlement, Bridgeport, CA". If you GPS keeps working until here, then, right after the small cluster of homes/restaurant/RV Park, you will see a sign for "Green Creek". You will turn left, right after this sign, on to a dirt road, then follow the LEDs/signs we will post to the campsite.
--SCREEN-SHOT THESE OLD-SCHOOL DIRECTIONS IN CASE YOUR GPS DIES, SINCE SERVICE IS BAD: Going up the 395, you will hit a tiny town called Lee Vining (about 1.5 hrs after the last actual city, called Bishop). 5 min later, you will pass Mono Lake, which will be to the right of you. The Sierras on the Left. You will go up a GIANT hill, then down again, twisting and turning. When it levels out in flat land, you will see a sign for "Bodie" State Historic Park on the right. Then you will see a small clump of houses on your left ("Virginia Settlement"), and an RV Park on your right with a janky-ass pond in a plastic tub sort of thing. Just a couple minutes after, you will see a sign for "Green Creek". We will put some LEDs! Right after that, you will turn LEFT off the 395 on to a dirt road. From there, you will see signs from the event w/LEDs for night arrival, guiding you the last couple turns on dirt roads into camp! If you come to a town on the 395, called Bridgeport (it has a couple gas stations, TownHall, a couple bars and motels), you went TOO FAR by about 10 minutes! RETREAT! RETREAT!:)
--SECLUSION & SUBSTANCES: We are on public land in an isolated area. You can bring your "party favors";)! Herb & beyond."Party safe and hydrate since there is no medical staff & nearest hospital is 1.5 hrs away." Love, Mom.
--FEES:
$20/person to cover all of the infrastructure (toilet area, kitchen area, propane, TP, sanitized, bleach, etc., etc.). James and I are doing all the production/set-up as a labor of love, so this is just to cover costs; no-one is making money! Please send to VENMO: @Karolyn-Wyneken. LMK if you cannot use Venmo, or you TRULY cannot pay the fees, ASAP. If you can pay a "Scholarship" for someone and add $5 more, please do! Everyone is struggling right now, so let's help get everyone we love here!
--ARRIVAL:
On Thursday, if you are bringing infrastructure (shade structure, rugs, etc.,) you can come any time after 2pm to help me set up. In fact, ANYone wanting to set up with me can come at this time:) I will set up a lot the night before, but...ya know...we can always use help! We will be setting up the last main areas until about 5/6pm, after which we will be chilling. You can arrive any time that night, but please try to come by midnight at latest. NEW CAMPERS: I recommend coming by 7pm at the latest, since setting up a tent for the first time in the dark is not easy. BUT if you have to come after work, we will help you WINNNN AT CAMPING AS A TEAM! If you need to come after midnight, that is ok, but I cannot promise people will be sober or awake to help you. Maybe we will all be drunk..maybe we will be tired and have gone to sleep...although the latter is less likely haha...
Please try to make it by Thursday, since we really want to make a cohesive group from the beginning. Like building trust within the group...and shit...;)
--PARKING:
All free, and on a dirt turnaround about 50 feet from the campsite. You can park in the turn-out by the campsite to unload, then we will direct you where to park. It's REALLY easy. No shuttling, etc. You CAN sleep in your car, but it will be SO hot; there is no shade in the parking lot. I don't recommend it, but...live your life!
--DEPARTURE:
We will leave Monday. You do NOT HAVE TO LEAVE EARLY! OMG I HATE MORNINGS! :( :( :( I'm sure you do too! (Unless you're one of those jog-at-5am-types..in which case...do your thing...). We can take a NICE , LEISURELY time getting out. PLEASE plan to help take down if you can! If you have to leave early to get home for work, that is understandable. But if possible, please help! New campers: plan an hour at least to pack out just your personal things first. People will need help to take down the shade structure, wash station, etc. I am setting everything up, digging the pit toilet by hand, etc. in advance, so I'd really appreciate help on the other end, since we are making no money. It's not too much set up, so if everyone does a little bit, it will be very fast + painless!:)
MEAL TEAMS
"Meal" = just 1 hot meal item. Noodles, rice, etc. You don't have to make a 3 course dinner, but if you WANT to with your team, you can! (Salad, veggies, etc.) Try to get an item that boils faster like 10-min rice instead of normal 45-min rice, since our propane is limited. Remember to get a vegan + gluten free option. (This can be as simple as "Rice noodles" or "spaghetti + a couple boxes of gluten free spaghetti"). Or try a canned veggie soup! Super EZ & cheap!)

MISSION OF EVENT
We want to make a space in nature to heal, rejuvenate, expand our creativity, inspire each other, re-set our matrixes, get weird, have some dance classes, connect with old friend and new networks, do some visualizations and meditations.....chill out! And, we want to discuss how to bring the ideas we create back to our communities in LA. This will not be a one-off! LOVE!
